I received a call a couple of days ago from one of my favorite wedding coordinators (Heather Lee). She is the wedding coordinator for The Castle Green in Pasaena. If you never heard of The Castle Green, you should check it out. It is a very beautiful building that used to be a hotel. Check out their website at http://www.castlegreen.com/.
I worked with her at a wedding at the Athenauem in Pasadena (Also a very nice place, but it is a very private club) and we put together a very successful wedding where our client was really happy (see the Janz Wedding above). To make a long story short, she had a wedding on the 3ist (today) and the DJ was flaking out on the bride and she wanted to know if I would be willing to help her out. I luckily had the day off (Was supposed to go Tuna Fishing) and said yes.
This has been the first time I had to put a wedding together in such short amount of time (2 days). The Bride is un-cooporative because she is too busy doing other things so I could not meet with her and both times we schedued phone conversations, she never called. So I am winging it. We shall see how it goes. I’ll post more about the results tomorrow once the wedding is completed.
Now the real issue with this, was that the bride originally booked a cheap DJ. She was quoted $550.00 for a 6 hour reception. This is what she got. A DJ that wouldn’t do things her way, ended up trying to send two other DJ’s to her gig instead of the one she originally met with, and she had a lot of extra stress she had to deal with 2 days before her wedding. If she would have paid for a good DJ in the beginning, she would have been relaxing this week and feeling that everything is under control. Hopefully everyone will learn that you get what you pay for and base their hiring decision on quality and not price. I doubt it though….
This wedding took place at the Women’s Club in Laguna Beach California. This client wanted their first names and their married name and the date they were married for their name in lights. At first we projected it above the head table and them when the dancing started, we moved it to the dance floor. This is turning out to be a great element to add to a wedding or any other event. Everyone compliments us on how great it looks and how it adds an elegant element ot their event. Photiographers love it!

This wedding took place at the Athenaeum in Pasadena California. It is a very exclusive private club belonging to Cal Tech. Their website says

This event the client wanted elegant yet fun. So we worked with the bride and her mother to really discover what they wanted and how we are going to deliver the wedding of their dreams,
The client wanted their monogram projected onto the dance floor (Name in lights) and some ambient up lighting for the dancing area. We decided on a gold / bronze type color which matches the wedding theme.
